and Stock Options

Cboe offers options on thousand of publicly traded stocks, and on exchanged-traded funds (ETFs) and exchange-traded notes (ETNs). Investors use these products for strategies such as hedging and income enhancement through the selling of covered calls or cash-secured puts.

Please note that these products have physical settlement at expiration (securies are delivered), whereas the index options have cash settlement at expiration, and often are larger sized contracts.

Exchange Traded Products Options

ETPs are shares of trusts that hold portfolios of stocks designed to closely track the price performance and yield of speicfic indices. As ETPs trade like stock, options on these products are operationally similar to options on stock. Options on ETPs are physically settled and have an American-style exercise feature. LEAPS® are offered on some of the products.

Cboe pioneered listed options trading with the launch of call options on single Stocks in 1973, and Cboe now offers both call and put options on thousands of publicly listed stocks. Many investors who hold stocks appreciate the flexibility that options strategies may provide in terms of added yield and adjustment of stock exposures.
