How Rahul Kambariya Gives Back to the Yogi Divine Society
When Rahul Kambariya first moved to Toronto, Canada in 2013, he was lucky to find an inspiring community within the Yogi Divine Society. Not only did the Yogi Divine Society give him a sense of belonging in a new country, but it also helped him get his start in a career he loves.
The Yogi Divine Society is a humanitarian organization rooted in the Hindu Swaminarayan tradition. Founded in 1966 by Hariprasad Swamiji Maharaj, the Yogi Divine Society is currently guided by Prabodhjivan Swamiji Maharaj. Atmiyata — the moto of the organization that encompasses harmony, brotherhood, love and help — guides volunteers of this organization to unconditionally support those in need.
“The Yogi Divine Society kickstarted my career in many ways like helping me build out a LinkedIn profile and draft a resume,” Rahul says. “I wanted to give back to the community that helped me throughout pivotal changes in my life.”
There are numerous layers to the Yogi Divine Society’s community work. Volunteers can help with medical care for individuals through an eye treatment camp, a medical service that is rooted in rural and tribal regions. Additionally, the Society offers tribal care, a program led by volunteers who help tribal youth get situated in a new place while retaining their cultural origins. The education care program gives youth the opportunity to study a variety of topics and their relief work brings volunteers together to fight the environmental issues throughout the world.
“Coming to Canada from India, I was seeking a support system that was rooted in the values I grew up with,” Rahul says. “I was guided by this organization and I aspire to keep giving back to a community that welcomed me with open arms.”
Rahul has been volunteering at the Yogi Divine Society for eight years and treasures the connections he built throughout his time there. He values helping people of all ages, working with local hospitals near Toronto and creating activities that give young and elderly people a place to go and connect. Rahul specifically works on the youth volunteer team where he guides the younger generation with valuable programming. With over 400 volunteers, the Yogi Divine Society continues to grow and expand to help people globally.
In recognition of Rahul’s service to the Yogi Divine Society, Cboe donated $5,000 to the organization, supporting its mission of helping people in need. The donation was used to support local communities and enhance the organization’s programs offered, enabling the Yogi Divine Society to reach more people in need.
